The Browns got COOKED by the Patriots, and Donovan Peoples-Jones didn’t have a great game.
He only pulled in one of his five targets for 16 yards during the 45-7 blowout.
The Browns (5-5) have dropped four of their last six and haven’t won at New England since 1992, when Bill Belichick was their coach.
“They outplayed us, outcoached us,” Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said. “Mac Jones in particular, but their offense played really well. We could not get them off on third down.”
Mayfield limped off the field after taking a pair of hits in the third quarter.
Mayfield said an X-ray after the game showed no structural damage. He said he expects to play next week.
“Gotta find a way to get as healthy as possible,” Mayfield said. “Pretty beat up right now. It was just an awkward hit and landing. So, we’ll see. Day by day.”
“There’s a little Jekyll and Hyde there. There’s been some games where we showed what we could be. … In the AFC, 9-8’s not going to get you into the playoffs. We’ve got to find a way to win some games.” — Browns left guard Joel Bitonio.
It wasn’t all bad for Peoples-Jones this weekend.
He is dating MMA fighter Valerie Loureda, and unlike the Browns, she won her matchup this weekend.
It wasn’t spectacular, but it got the job done.
“I felt the most comfortable and happy I’ve felt in a while,” Loureda told reporters, including MMA Junkie, backstage. “And before (the fight) backstage, I was just dancing and listening to my Hispanic music, and I felt just so calm and at peace. I’ve never felt like this before.”
“Yeah, I’m super happy,” Loureda said. “I think you have to remember I’m only 23 years old. The media is so hard to me, but I did this to myself and put myself in this position because I know I’m a star, and I know I could do it. I’ve devoted my whole life to martial arts. It’s just a matter of time that I keep winning and develop into a full-rounded mixed martial artist.”
Peoples-Jones approved of the fight and the twerk afterward.
