While there has been no official local news media story confirming Comedian Derrion “Dmuney” Childs’ death, a quick look at his social media pages shows thousands of comments ranging from RIP to people saying he got what he deserved.
Memphis is a dangerous place right now, so you better be careful about what you say and where you go for a while.
It might be best to just stay indoors if you can.
Here is what we do know about what potentially got Childs killed.
The comedian Derrion “Dmuney” Childs was reportedly killed earlier this week after making several jokes about Young Dolph’s murder. On his Facebook page, he wrote: “MANEEEE THEM FOLKS JUST KILLED YOUNG DOLPH I LOVE MEMPHIS CUH WE SO GANGSTA 😂😂😂😂😂” He continued to write, “MANE CUHH IF YEEN FROM MEMPHIS OR IF YEEN THE POLICE JUST QUIT TRYNA SOLVE YOUNG DOLPH MURDER,”
Six days prior, Childs wrote in a status that he hoped to be labeled a “legend”: “If the news don’t post me as a Memphis legend when I died l, they HATEDDDD 💕💕💕”
Say Cheese TV reports that the comedian has passed away, and many believe he was targeted for joking about Dolph’s killing.
So many young people die far too early at the hands of gun violence, and if this story is true, it is just another example of that.
Once again, even if you are a comedian, this might not be the time to be making jokes about Young Dolph’s death. The wound is too fresh, and you don’t want to end up like Mr. Childs if the reports are accurate.
As Biggie once said, he doesn’t wish death on anyone because there is no coming back for that. There is no backspace button on murder.
*UPDATE*
It now has been confirmed that Childs has been murdered.
Memphis Police have identified a man who was shot and killed at a gas station in Frayser.
Police say 21-year-old Derrion Childs was shot and killed at a gas station on North Watkins Road near Delano Avenue at around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday night.
Memphis Police say two other people were also injured in that shooting.
