According to Emily Mayfield, the wife of Baker Mayfield, the Browns’ quarterback is getting hateful comments and death threats following the Browns’ loss to the Packers.
Here is what Emily Mayfield shared on her Instagram Story:
“I pray for those of you who even think those thoughts, let alone type them out. I hope you can find some happiness so you stop trying to steal it from others. It’s crazy how much negativity is amplified via social media.”
TMZ:
Emily Mayfield said in a social media post that after the Cleveland star played poorly in Green Bay, fans have now begun to come at her and her husband with “death threats,” “lies,” and “blatant disrespect.”
Baker has been the quarterback of the Browns since he was drafted No. 1 overall in 2018 … but the criticism of his play has grown loudly this season after he’s had an up-and-down year.
Emily has had to go to social media to defend him multiple times … but it’s clear, she believes his detractors have now crossed a line.
I wouldn’t expect anyone’s wife to be rational about their husband’s performance, and I am sure he is telling her things during pillow talk that probably only pisses her off more about the team and the fanbase. The fact of the matter is this. Baker is an average quarterback in the NFL. He isn’t terrible, but he is mediocre.
There are at least 15 QBs I’d prefer to have over him, but he isn’t as bad as some of the worst QBs in the league. I would never tell him to silence his wife, but she isn’t endearing them to the fanbase who have been pretty loyal to Baker since he arrived there.
It will be very curious if the Browns give him the massive contract extension he is looking for.
