For a few reasons, the Lakers haven’t looked like title contenders this year.
The two biggest are that they haven’t played any kind of defense, and they haven’t been healthy.
One of those guys that weren’t healthy for a stretch was LeBron James, who has since returned to the lineup and looks excellent offensively. During a game a couple of weeks ago, he had it going and hit a dagger against the Pacers, and did the Sam Cassell “big balls” celebration after.
As every player is, he was fined for the celebration, and one NBA legend wasn’t happy with it.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar called out Lebron for the celebration and asked why he needed to do a stupid childish dance. He also said GOATs don’t dance.
“Why do you need to do a stupid, childish dance and disrespect the other team on the court?” the Hall of Famer asked on his Substack channel. “It doesn’t make sense. GOATs don’t dance.”
This isn’t the first time Kareem has criticized LeBron during the current NBA season. In October, the former Laker called out the NBA superstar over his vaccine stance.
“I’m a huge fan of LeBron James, both as one of the greatest basketball players ever and as a humanitarian who cares about social injustice,” he wrote in the essay titled Why LeBron Is Wrong About “Honoring” Vaccination Hesitancy. “I have written his praises many times in the past and undoubtedly will in the future. I admire him and have affection for him. But this time LeBron is just plain wrong — and his being wrong could be deadly, especially to the Black community. On the surface, it appears that Draymond and LeBron are arguing for the American ideal of individual freedom of choice. But they offer no arguments in support of it, nor do they define the limits of when one person’s choice is harmful to the community.”
I would think LeBron would listen on this just because it’s Kareem, but he probably won’t. What do you think?
