Is it a coincidence that Michele Tafoya will step down from her role as sideline reporter from Sunday Night Football around the same time people figured out she was MAGA thanks to her guest-hosting on THE VIEW?
It is possible, but NBC has no problem with Al Michaels, Cris Collinsworth, and Drew Brees working Sunday Night Football, and they all lean more towards MAGA. It was clear on the episode they were trying to take up for Aaron Rodgers, who lied about his vaccination status, and it wasn’t a secret that Michaels detested black players who kneeled for the anthem.
What is more likely is that Tafoya will have opportunities to speak more freely about her beliefs if she isn’t tied to NBC and the NFL.
That is why I believe she is stepping away from her role. The NY Post has the rest of the details.
This season is expected to be “Sunday Night Football” reporter Michele Tafoya’s final one on the sidelines, The Post has learned.
Sources said it is Tafoya’s decision to step away from the field. She has been on network TV at CBS, ABC/ESPN and NBC for nearly three decades.
She was on ABC’s “The View” in early November, where she made headlines when she compared COVID to the flu, saying the “flu kills people.” She also countered the idea that Colin Kaepernick was not on an NFL roster because of kneeling for the anthem.
After “The View,” she went on to work the sidelines for the rest of that month until taking off after Thanksgiving and the past two Sundays.
NBC has the Super Bowl in February in Los Angeles, which will be Tafoya’s final time on the sideline.
I honestly don’t think we need sideline reporters anymore.
That is what we have Twitter for.
