The Benefit Concert organized by Kanye West and Drake to help Larry Hoover who is serving six life sentences get a presidential pardon went well and the fans loved their performances but then, the Feds are surprised they got the balls to organize such a concert.
It could be #FreeKanye&Drake soon because the Feds aren’t taking their concert to free Hoover lightly. They better watch their backs not to get into trouble with the law.
A law enforcement source linked to Larry Hoover’s case is claiming prosecutors are “surprised” by Kanye and Drake putting so much energy and support behind Hoover.
The source said the feds think that Hoover belongs in the federal Supermax prison he’s currently serving six life sentences in. Supporters of Hoover feel the government issued a massive over-sentence, especially considering the fact that Hoover’s crimes were drug-related and not related to murder. The feds reportedly said that Drake and Kanye West would be better off helping other people currently incarcerated besides Larry Hoover.
The Feds were speculating that this was just a money grab for the artists and there were reports none of the proceeds from the merchandise and concert were going to any charities or to help Hoover, here is what Ye and Drake are saying about that.
On Thursday, December 9, Kanye West (now legally known as Ye) and Drake publicly squashed their beef during the Amazon-sponsored “Free Larry Hoover Benefit Concert.” Profits from the show were directed to Ex-Cons for Community and Social Change, Hustle 2.0, and Uptown People’s Law Center, and the event was intended to “[raise] awareness of the need for prison and sentencing reform.” A portion of the merch proceeds created to commemorate the event were also directed to those organizations.
A previous version of this story noted that merch sales would not benefit charities based on an erroneous GQ report.
The #FreeLarryHoover merchandise is being sold on Amazon, and includes pieces “engineered by Balenciaga,” as the product description reads. The merch capsule includes t-shirts (at $100 and $160), jeans ($400), a ball cap ($60), and more, all with the words “Free Hoover” printed on them.
