Charles Barkley is unhappy about how the Lakers have tried all their best to throw Russell Westbrook and Frank Vogel under the bus. According to Charles during “Inside The NBA” on TNT on Thursday, “he’s sick of LA using scapegoats after creating an inadequate team.”
Here is Chuck going off via Awesemo:
“The way they have tried to throw Russell Westbrook and Frank Vogel under the bus is just really pissing me off,” Barkley said before he was cut off and they interviewed a waiting guest.
“I’m still mad,” Barkley said when they returned. “Now listen, I’m not going to sit here like all those clowns from other networks that have their heads up the Lakers’ booties. They’re blaming Frank Vogel and Russell Westbrook. Listen, the people up top that put that trash together are running and hiding like cowards saying, ‘oh, it’s Frank and it’s Russ.’ They put all them old geezers out there.”
When Rob Pelinka decided this offseason that the answer to LA’s problems was adding Russell Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony and Malik Monk, most fans clowned them for getting older when they needed to get younger and more athletic.
You are playing with fire whenever you try to create a super team with past their prime players and a mix of one-year vets. The most apparent problem is injury, and the second isn’t the offensive end because someone like Carmelo and Russ will always be able to score, but it is the defensive end when those old legs don’t want to chase these young guys around for four quarters.
I still think the Lakers are dangerous if Anthony Davis and LeBron are fully healthy come playoff time. They wouldn’t be a team I’d want to see as a lower seed if the team is healthy, but that seems to be far-fetched at the moment, but it is still early in the season.
Once we March and April, let’s see where the Lakers are at.
