Former First-Round NFL Draft Pick Isaiah Wilson Cut By Giants For Falling Asleep In Team Meetings

Remember Isaiah Wilson?

He was the kid who got drafted out of Georgia and was a part of the most infamous moments of draft day when his caucasian girlfriend at the time went in to hug Wilson once the cameras turned on, but mama Wilson was having none of it and pushed her out the way.

If that was any indication of how Wilson’s career would go, it surely was correct as the New York Giants are giving up on Wilson and released him from their practice squad Tuesday afternoon. According to ESPN’s Jordan Raanan, Wilsons’ conduct during his time in the big apple is what got him released.

“Isaiah Wilson released from the practice squad,” Raanan said. “Rob Sale’s ‘no comment’ and then ‘be dependable’ last week on Wilson foreshadowed this.”

“The Giants took a crack at the troubled former first-round pick, but I heard he was falling asleep in meetings with regularity. No good.”

Wilson, who was drafted by the Tennesse Titans in the first-round of the 2020 NFL Draft was traded to Miami after multiple run-ins with the law. He lasted less than a week with the Dolphins being waived by the franchise after showing up late for his team physical and missing two workouts. The Giants decided to bring him in back in September before being released this month.

Now you know if a bad Giants team is giving up on you, especially knowing they have issues on the offensive line, your time in the league is likely over. Sad story all around. Hopefully, Wilson will seek out some help and mature because he’s only 22 and I’m sure he’s got a lot of football left in him.
