It hasn’t even been a week since Michele Tafoya left her job at NBC Sports, and she is already on the MAGA world tour talking about how Kaepernick wasn’t blackballed, and kids shouldn’t learn about it America’s racist history.
Just look at some of the wild things she is already saying.
“I have missed so many games,” she said. “I never get those back. And that’s a little bit painful to say. But I’m here right now and I’m going to look forward and I want to help in some way. I’ve got some plans and I’m still thinking about what exactly that’s going to be, but I just cannot, I can’t be on the sidelines. I can’t be on the sidelines anymore.”
Those in the industry have long known about Tafoya’s political stances, and it won’t shock you to know many of your favorite journalists, sideline reporters, and others in the media feel the same way she does.
They don’t express it because they want to keep their jobs in sports, and it is hard to do that if you are being too political, especially when you are covering sports where the majority of athletes are black.
If you pay close attention, you can hear the disdain in the voices when they talk about Colin Kaepernick or social justice. Tafoya is free to do what she wants now, and there is tons of money in high-profile figures saying racism doesn’t exist in our country.
Tafoya likely will become a bigger star now than she can spout freely that kids shouldn’t be taught about racism, and Kaepernick could be an NFL QB if he wanted to be.
