Bill Simmons claims that Lakers owner Jeanie Buss stood up to LeBron James in a recent sit-down meeting “following All-Star weekend when a lot of the questionable comments were made.”
Here is what Bill Simmons said:
“Jeanie Buss is a tough lady, man. … She’s been in the league since the early eighties and I think at some point she stood up to those guys and was like, ‘No, stop. You don’t get to undermine all this. Stop,” Simmons explained.
“You’re here. You’re under contract next year. What are we doing?’ and I think they had a powwow, that’s what I heard. But I think she stood up for at least something. For them to unwind last week and pretend they weren’t chaos agents was really strange.”
Awesemo has more on Jeanie Buss setting LeBron James straight.
LeBron James has been rubbing Lakers Land the wrong way as of late, including Lakers owner Jeanie Buss.
LeBron has been dropping hints about his future, which just seems all about him and less about his team. It was all a bit premature, considering he’s locked in a contract through next season. LeBron’s antics aren’t jiving with the Lakers front office brass.
Rumors recently surfaced pointing to LeBron having more control than any Lakers player ever has, and that list includes Kobe.
If the Lakers miss the playoffs, which is looking more likely by the day, it’s going to be Jeanie’s job to surround LeBron with an all new team.
I wouldn’t mess around with Jeanie Buss she is going to there long after all of them are gone and she has seen a lot things in her time with the Lakers. I can totally see her telling LeBron to pipe down and just play. She listens to players, but in the end she is the one calling the shots.
