The father of eight kids, Nick Cannon, has lost a gig. Page Six says that his talk show which is struggling has been canceled and kicked out of air after just six months of airing, with many of the staff already out there chasing after jobs.
Here is the juice:
Sources say that staff at the nationally syndicated show have yet to be informed. But we’re told many of them were already looking for new jobs because the outlook seemed bleak for the struggling show.
The star snagged the gig in 2020 after impressing producers with his daytime talents when he filled in for Wendy Williams during her long absence due to ill health.
The former Mr. Mariah Carey was also a hot commodity when the show was announced because Fox’s “The Masked Singer,” which he hosted, had become the No. 1 new show, drawing “more than 17 million… viewers in its record-breaking 2018 debut” according to Deadline.
There was even talk of Cannon’s show replacing Williams’ if her health meant it had to come off the air permanently.
But that chatter went cold when audience numbers showed Cannon’s show picking up just 400,000 viewers, making it the lowest rated talk show at the time, according to Celebrity 411. Williams’ show averages 600,000.
Sources said that networks are also looking for a spot for Jennifer Hudson’s new talk show.
You have to wonder if some of the negative backlashes from his previous comments about Jewish people and all the kids he had with different baby mamas affected the show’s ratings. I watched it one time, and I think the issue was it had no sizzle. It was almost too positive. You need a little conflict in your daytime shows, and this didn’t have it at all. I don’t feel too bad for Cannon. He is still super-rich.
Nick Cannon is yet to react to the news that his talk show has been canceled. Sorry, Nick!
