In every controversy, there is a gain and it can be huge or small depending on the controversy. According to Joe Rogan, he bagged 2 million subscribers during COVID-19 and n-word controversies. So whilst people were angry and bashing him on the internet, they were still subscribing to his channel and listening to him via Complex;
Joe Rogan faced backlash for a compilation that came out showing the podcaster saying the n-word numerous times throughout the history of his show. The viral compilation found many responding, even going as far as petitioning to get Rogan off of Spotify. Now, Rogan has revealed what has happened following the backlash.
While on an episode of his podcast, Rogan spoke to British political commentator Douglas Murray about the controversy his show was surrounded by. Murray told Rogan, “You have been put through the wringer since we last met. They did a number on you. Wow.”
The podcast host responded by saying, “It’s interesting, my subscriptions went up massively — that’s what’s crazy. During the height of it all, I gained two million subscribers … Yeah, [the media] went for it. It’s also fortunate that the people who went for it were CNN. They’re so untrustworthy, and people know how biased they are and socially weird their anchors are.”
Rogan then went on to mock CNN, who previously made an inaccurate claim that he took “horse dewormer” to combat his bout with COVID-19.
I think what people don’t understand is there are a lot more racists in the US than you think. So when a controversy comes out like this if the person is popular enough they can’t be canceled their legend actually grows especially if they lean into the racist tropes.
In any sane society, there is no way a man like Donald Trump should have become President of any country which is why America isn’t as great as some make it out to be.
