As I have stated many times, there are too many guns in our world.
Sadly, our young and old people can’t even go to a party without worrying about being shot. Aaliyah Gayles has her whole future ahead of her, and she may never be the same again after being shot multiple times. We live in a very angry and violent society, so please be careful. Even if your kid is 18, do your best to try to steer them away from the wrong crowd.
Here are the details of the shooting.
Aaliyah Gayles, a basketball star at Spring Valley High School who was a McDonald’s All-American this past season, was shot multiple times late Saturday at a house party in North Las Vegas, sources told the Review-Journal on Sunday.
Four people, including two minors, suffered gunshot wounds after a quarrel broke out inside the house, North Las Vegas police said.
Gunfire erupted about 11:15 p.m. in the 4900 block of Support Street, near Lone Mountain Road and Simmons Street, police said.
The four victims were hospitalized with survivable gunshot wounds, and one woman was listed in “serious” condition after she suffered multiple gunshot wounds to her lower body, police said.
Gayles, 18, a senior at the school who has committed to play at Southern California, underwent two emergency surgeries Sunday morning, according to sources close to the situation.
Additional details were not available, but sources said Gayles’ head and torso were not targeted.
Her dad understandably is taking it hard and blaming himself for what happened.
The only person really to blame is the shooter.
Her father, Dwight, went to social media to ask for prayers for his daughter, writing, “I know there is some that will say it’s my fault and I take full responsibility for it but please please keep my baby girl in your prayers Las Vegas.”
“I will give everyone that support Aaliyah an update but she’s ok she go make it like always thank you all 💔 true warrior.”
Sad story, and we hope that Aaliyah has a full recovery.
The shooter has not been caught.
