Charlo vs. Castaño II will see unified WBC, WBA and IBF World Champion Jermell Charlo and WBO World Champion Brian Castaño in a rematch of one of 2021’s most significant fights as they again seek to become the first ever undisputed 154-pound champion in the four-belt era on Saturday, May 14 live on SHOWTIME from Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California headlining a Premier Boxing Champions event.
The SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING telecast begins at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT and will feature rising welterweight star and pound-for-pound talent Jaron “Boots” Ennis dueling unbeaten Canadian Olympian Custio Clayton in an IBF Welterweight Title Eliminator in the co-main event. Kicking off the telecast, Mexican contender Kevin González puts his unbeaten record on the line against Puerto Rico’s Emanuel Rivera in a 10-round super bantamweight attraction.
I spoke to Boots Ennis and he said he is coming for those belts.
“I’m real excited. You know, as you said, I’m right there. I’m like my step away.
And all I do is handle business with Clayton and it’s onto bigger and better things.”
Boots says he doesn’t need to call anyone out because his time is coming and there is nothing they can do about it.
“I feel like after this, I will be able to get those big names. I will say people’s names and stuff and my interviews and stuff like that.
So we’ll see you when I am victorious on Saturday I might call somebody out”
Boots is one of the most fluid boxers in the game, I asked him when you are inside that ring is it just instinct to be that composed in the heat of battle.
“It’s a different switch and I get in this mood and I just in there and having fun and being free and it’s like me being at home.
It’s like my happy place. So I just went there and had fun. I will be free when I’m in the ring.”
Flows like water.
Here is an amazing story on how Boots is trying to help a kid get a bone marrow transplant.
