Kevin Durant didn’t agree with a fan on social media who asked him about Draymond Green “pointing at reasons why Steph Curry was the real MVP during their finals run with Durant.”
Kevin ended up going hard on Draymond and accused him of spreading false narratives via Side Action;
Kevin Durant’s long history of ups and downs with Draymond Green continues.
During an episode of his podcast this week, Green raised some eyebrows when pointing at reasons why Steph Curry was the real MVP during their finals run with Durant
“Steph Curry got double teamed probably seven times the amount that KD did in a given series… Yet, the guy still averages, I’m not sure what his Finals average is, but I’d be willing to bet my bottom dollar it’s north of 23 points. So, the impact that he has on the game, if you don’t understand basketball, then you’re going to come out and you’re going to say, ‘He needs to validate that by [winning] a Finals MVP.’”
Kevin Durant would also clap bay to fans who took Draymond Green’s point of view, even saying the notion that Steph Curry was the one always getting double-teamed was a “blatant lie”
The Cavs coach at the time Tyrone Lue backed up Draymond claims.
It is no secret that Steph Curry faces arguably the most aggressive traps of any player in NBA history. Frequently facing double and triple-teams the minute he crosses half-court, Steph has conditioned opposing teams to be content with anybody other than him taking shots. This was even persistent with Kevin Durant alongside him, as Ty Lue admitted to blitzing Curry in the 2017 and 2018 Finals even with Durant and Klay Thompson out there.
Once again it looks like Kevin Durant is more in his feelings than dealing with facts. He deserved those Finals MVPs but one of the reasons why is because Steph and Klay made his job a lot easier.
