The man convicted of killing LSU B-Ball star Wayde Sims, Dyteon Simpson was found dead in prison days after his life sentence. He was convicted last week for shooting and killing LSU basketball player Wayde Sims in 2018 and now, he’s dead.

The sentencing hearing for Dyteon Simpson happened July 7th, just months after a jury found him guilty of second-degree murder. In Louisiana, a second-degree murder conviction carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison.
He won’t be serving that sentence after he was found deceased in prison.
Officials say the coroner’s office will conduct an autopsy to determine the final cause of death. Deputies report they are investigating the possibility of contraband being a factor in the man’s death.
“The EBR Coroner will conduct an autopsy and determine final cause of death,” the spokesperson added. “This investigation is ongoing as to the cause of death and possibility of contraband.”

It appears he had Fentanyl in his system at the time of his death. The question begs how did he get that while he was in jail?
East Baton Rouge officials are trying to determine how a 23-year-old inmate convicted of killing an LSU basketball player died in prison.
Dyteon Simpson was convicted last week of killing LSU basketball player Wayde Sims in 2018.
According to the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, on Sunday before 8 p.m. deputies found Simpson unresponsive in his cell. He was later pronounced dead, according to the sheriff.
A preliminary toxicology report of Simpson’s body found fentanyl in his system at the time of his death.
The East Baton Rouge Coroner will conduct an autopsy and determine the final cause of death.
This investigation is ongoing as to the cause of death and the possibility of contraband.
