Klay Thompson has opened up about running over a woman at the Warriors parade and according to him, he’s grateful to the woman because “she really threw me the best assist I’ve had in weeks. I was going down.”
According to Side Action;
Klay Thompson made his return to the court this season and it turned out great. He won another championship after a very tough road to recovery. That makes it four championships in the span of eight seasons for the Warriors and there is no doubt that they are a dynasty for the ages.
On Andre Iguodala’s Point Forward podcast, Thompson explained his antics from that day and what was going through his head during the commotion. Klay at one point ran over a woman at the parade.
“I tried to do a little hop, skip and a jump, and my vert ain’t as high as it used to be a few years ago, so I went stumbling, man,” Thompson said. “But I was just grateful she was there. She really threw me the best assist I’ve had in weeks. I was going down.”
This definitely was more of a block than a charge as she was still moving her feet. You could make a case that Klay was out of control and initiated the contact and therefore should be charged with the foul.
I honestly expect Klay to be better next season. With Andrew Wiggins taking some of the defensive responsibility off him and having the ability to have a full offseason to just work on his game and not rehabbing an injury look for him to be lights out in 2022-23.
I expect all his shooting % to go way up. The fact he was able to make it through the season with no setbacks says a lot.
