56-year-old Lynora Silverman was overly-excited when she saw a cool $300 cash in a thrifted coach bag she bought for just $6.99 but then, there was a wild note about the former owner’s cheating husband.
According to The Daily Mail;
A woman found a $300 cash ‘inheritance’ hidden inside a $6.99 thrifted Coach bag along with a juicy note about the former owner’s cheating husband.
Lynora Silverman, 56, from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, opened up about the mysterious discovery in a now-viral TikTok video, explaining she bought the handbag from the Salvation Army with the intention of sprucing it up.
‘Look inside, it’s dirty, right, and cruddy,’ said Silverman, who is known as @marthainfused on the platform. ‘I thought I could clean it up, so I start working on trying to take this flap out at the bottom of a purse, and there is an envelope.’
Inside the envelope was $300 in cash, but even more surprising was the scathing letter from the previous owner ‘Martha.’ ‘I have three children,’ the message read. ‘They will give my things to Goodwill when I die. So I am putting their inheritance inside all my favorite things.’
Martha said the Coach bag was given to her by her husband’s girlfriend, but that wasn’t exactly what had happened. ‘Well, actually, I came home early from a visit to my parents’ house in Connecticut. She must have left quickly because she forgot her bag and shoes,’ she admitted.
‘I carry this bag every day. I wonder if my husband ever knew this was his girlfriend’s. I carried it daily and I am giving it away because my kids don’t want it. So, go buy yourself a new bag. Love, Martha,’ the letter concluded.
Silverman’s video has been viewed more than 8.8 million times and thousands of TikTok users flocked to the comments to share their thoughts.
This is what social media folks think about the wild note;
‘Tea from beyond the grave,’ one person wrote, while another added: ‘Martha was definitely a Scorpio with that long game.’
‘I can’t decide what’s better. The story or hiding the inheritance or all this for $6.99,’ someone else shared.
‘Martha will never die. She will always be in my memory and my inspiration for the future,’ one viewer insisted.
Silverman is now on a hunt to figure out what happened to Martha and if she is still alive. In a follow-up video, she explained she was headed back to the Salvation Army to ask some questions.
