Amber Rose claims that Nicki Minaj was on ‘Monster’ because of her. According to Rose, she asked Kanye West to put Nicki on because she was an upcoming rapper. She probably wants some credit for that.
According to MTO News;
Amber Rose says that she told Kanye West to put Nicki Minaj on Monster, which solidified Nicki’s place in mainstream rap.
“I put Nicki on ‘Monster.’ [Kanye] didn’t know who Nicki was back then,” Rose continued. “I had Nicki pull up to the studio and I put her on ‘Monster,” she told the Higher Learning podcast hosts.
“She was still coming up. And I saw her in the studio and I said, ‘Oh my f-cking God, this bitch is talented as hell.’ And then I went back to Kanye and was like, ‘You need to get this girl Nicki on ‘Monster.” He was like, ‘Who? What? No.’”
Kanye met with Nicki and she recorded a verse. She says Ye almost pulled her verse from the album because it was too good.
“He told me that the same day. He was like, ‘How the f-ck did you bring in a bitch that killed me on my own song?’” he allegedly told Amber.
Nicki remembers it a little differently, but a couple of the details are the same.
Minaj revealed on her Twitter account that after speaking with Kanye West, it took her about a week to write her verse.[1] She recorded her verse in-studio with West and Rick Ross in Hawaii.
In 2013, West admitted that he briefly considered removing Minaj’s verse from the track because he knew it was the best; at the time, he was worried that after working on his album for eight months, people would still say the best part was someone else’s. He ultimately decided not to remove her because he said it would have only been because of his own ego and would have denied her the platform she needed to “be all she could be.”
