Russell Wilson got booed by Settle fans during Sue Bird’s final regular season game and has gone viral on Twitter with a bunch of reactions. According to some tweets, LeBron James, Russell Wilson, Robin Roberts, Michael Strahan, Geno Auriemma, and Megan Rapinoe were all featured in Sue Bird’s pregame tribute video, but Russell got all the boos.
TPS has more;
Between the regular season and playoffs, Sue Bird has suited up 651 times for the Seattle Storm during her legendary 19-year career. On Sunday afternoon, she stepped on the court for one last regular season game in Seattle.
Wilson, who was traded from Seattle to Denver this offseason, was reportedly booed back in Washington on Sunday. Before the game, the Storm honored Bird with a touching ceremony in front of a sold-out crowd that was the largest in franchise history and the largest to ever watch a basketball game at Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena.
Wilson was in that tribute video and the crowd let him hear it.
The Las Vegas Aces ruined the festivities as they won 89-81. Bird finished with nine points, four rebounds, and six assists.
“Right now I just want to say, from the bottom of my heart, how thankful I am,” Bird said while addressing the crowd after the game. “Not only for today, and all of you showing up and supporting us, but for 21 years… This place is not only where I played, it’s where I call home.”
Bird accomplishments include four WNBA titles, a record 13 All-Star appearances and being the league’s all-time assists leader.
It is interesting because Russ did force his way out of Seattle but doesn’t catch a lot of flak for it like a lot of other players who demand trades.
Maybe because he comes across the way he does, but Seahawks fans haven’t forgotten he basically left as soon as things got a little too rough there.
Le’t Ride.
