Lolo Jones isn’t taking it lightly with trolls teasing her for freezing her eggs at 40 due to fear of not making a family. The question is, is she running out of time to make a family?
TPS has more;
Last week, the two-sport Olympian shared an empowering and emotional video on her Instagram announcing her decision to begin the IVF process on her own. The 40-year-old bobsledder and hurdler began the video in tears, lamenting that she has long awaited a partner that she could start a family, but as she reaches the age of 40, she fears she is “running out of time,” and the weight of the decision on whether to freeze her eggs or not create “a lot of stress” for her at this time in her life.
Unfortunately, she was met with a ton of backlash in the comments, so she decided to release a part two of her freezing process while posting the trolls comments.
“I never thought I would get teased for wanting kids,” she said in the caption.
“I was shamed, criticized, told to adopt instead, called dried up or infertile.
Being a women is hard. We are very aware of our “biological clock” ticking. Trust me I’ve been on dates with guys who ask me if I can even have kids at my age (Like my worth is only if I can provide them a kid one day.) And to be fair guys honestly don’t know. And they can’t because every women’s biological clock really is different. You can be in your early 30’s and have low egg reserve or have a kid naturally at 43. We are all so different.
I WISH I WOULD’VE DONE THIS EARLIER. If you are a women and you want kids one day but not right now you can easily find out your egg reserve by taking an AMH test. They even have some home tests. SERIOUSLY TAKE THIS TEST. Simply put freezing your eggs, gives you more options. It’s not a guarantee but it simply gives you more options for later in life.
I honestly feel like a weight has been lifted. I’ve had so many bad dates lately and now I don’t feel forced or rushed into marriage for the sake of starting a family that would end in divorce.
I have made the right move to prepare for a family if me and my husband want to try to have kids one day. We have options. And if I can’t have kids there are other options like egg donors and yes adoption. But no one should be shamed for taking their time to figure out who their life partner is. A woman shouldn’t be shamed for wanting biological kids or wanting to know what it’s like to be pregnant and carry her own child. I pray for all women that are on this journey or have done this journey. We are warriors they will never know.”
Earlier this year, Jones revealed the “constant” abuse she faces online from men who tease her about her decision to abstain from sex until marriage. Jones also revealed she recently cut ties with a man she had recently been “talking to for eight months.”
Jones said that she’s “so exhausted” by her dating life and has “prayed for years with many tears for God please to allow me to find my husband.”
I hope Lolo finds someone because this is just sad.
“Tonight I blocked the guy I was talking to for 8 months. My heart just couldn’t take it anymore,” Jones wrote in her post. “He gave me so many mixed signals. He would talk about marriage and kids but then keep me in the friend zone. He would never make time to see me. My heart is so heavy.”
