The gun violence in this country has gotten out of hand, and something needs to happen sooner rather than later.
One of the latest examples comes from Baltimore, where HS football player Jeremiah Brogden was shot and killed in front of his school. To make things worse, another teenager shot him according to TotalProSports.
Baltimore High School football player Jeremiah Brogden had just been dismissed by the final school bell at Mergenthaler Vocational-Technical High School when he suddenly got shot and killed.
Brogden was given CPR on the scene by Baltimore school police officers and transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital by ambulance and pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Police have arrested a 17-year-old boy in connection with the murder that went down on Friday, around 2:55 p.m., police said.
Two kids now don’t have a future because the gun violence in this country has gone too far. Hopefully, the families will be able to find some kind of peace.
The violence in Baltimore is out of control.
Data from Open Baltimore shows that the city recorded 177 homicides in the first six months of this year — putting it on pace for its deadliest year in more than a decade.
Gun violence has exploded in cities across the country post pandemic. However, Baltimore was seeing a serious uptick in its homicide numbers years earlier.
Accessing data further back, The Baltimore Banner called the first six months of 2022 the deadliest in Baltimore history. The news organization said Baltimore only came close to this year’s number twice in its history: 270 in both 2017 and 1993.
In 1993, the city recorded 353 homicides – Baltimore’s most ever.
A former Baltimore police officer who frequently writes about Baltimore crime on Twitter noted that historically Baltimore has more murders in the second half of the year.
