As of right now, the DC Universe is in shambles. Henry Cavill announced late last year that he was not returning as Superman, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson stating that there are currently no plans to continue Black Adam. There’s just nothing for DC fans to be excited about. At least, not until 2025 according to DC Studios’ own James Gunn.
Gunn has announced plans that in the works for DCU, plans that are being worked on side-by-side with Peter Safran. Gunn and Safran reportedly announced the first half of Chapter 1 (their version of a Phase that’s used for Marvel). The chapter is called “Gods & Monsters” and will begin in 2025. Said announcement includes 10 shows and movies altogether (5 movies, 5 TV shows). The respective lists go as followed:
MOVIES: Superman: Legacy, The Authority, The Brave and the Bold, Swamp Thing, and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow
SHOWS: Waller, Creature Commandos, Lanterns, Booster Gold, and Paradise Lost
Multiple media outlets, including Screen Rant, reportedly attended the unveiling event.
As a diehard Marvel fan, I’m honestly excited about a few of these. Specifically, Booster Gold and the movie The Brave and the Bold. As a kid, I would always look forward to the cartoon show “Batman: The Brave and the Bold”. Not a single episode would be missed. Damian is one of those characters I have a healthy respect for in the DC verse, almost always involved in tense situations every time I see him on my screen.
As for Booster Gold, my like for him came from watching Justice League: Unlimited. Mainly due to how he grew as a character. It took DC Studios long enough to get going, but better late than never. With any luck, they will stay consistent and put out a content that many fans, DC and Marvel alike, can come to love and ultimately start sparking debates on which verse is better.
