Several quarterbacks will have eyes on them, as the league eagerly awaits to see how each of their situations play out. Will Brock Purdy maintain the starting job with the 49ers when Trey Lance comes back? Should the Saints be considered a lock to land Derek Carr after he cancelled his visits with other teams? Will Aaron Rodgers actually retire? Will the Seahawks move forward with Geno Smith? Will Baker Mayfield be on the move again, or keep a backup role with the Los Angeles Rams? There will probably not be another off-season like this one where so many QBs will likely be the focal point. That said, none are likely more eye-catching than the situation brewing between Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens.
And for good reason, for Jackson is one of the brightest young quarterbacks going into this off-season without a long-term deal in place. Now, it’s very likely that the Ravens will slap a franchise-tag on Jackson as head coach John Harbaugh has remained committed to keeping Jackson in Baltimore. The franchise-tag will give the Ravens some cushion as they negotiate a long-term deal with their star player.
According to the NY Post Falcons owner Arthur Blank is monitoring the situation closely and could be willing to part with several first round picks to get Lamar Jackson.
If Jackson is put on the franchise tag a team could step in and offer the Ravens two first round draft picks for Jackson’s rights.
The Falcons were willing to give a massive amount of money for Deshaun Watson, so it wouldn’t be surprising for them to do the same for Lamar Jackson.
Do you think that Falcons should go all out for the Jackson? It could immediately turned them into contenders in a weak AFC South.
