Questions and general concern over Bryce Young’s height started circulating like crazy after a picture of him with ESPN analyst Mina Kimes went viral a short while ago. The former Alabama QB, who many believes will go first overall in this year’s NFL Draft, is slated to be an even 6’0″ tall.
Mina moved quickly to dismiss any false narratives being made about Young’s height after taking to Twitter. According to Mina, she was wearing four-inch heels at the time the photo was taken on top of the fact that she was nearing 5’7″ in natural height. Kimes quickly followed up her tweet with a comment down below saying “don’t believe what you read on the internet” in all captions. That would make sense, if that is truly the case.
The Heisman trophy winner has been mocked to be taken by the Chicago Bears, with the Bears rumored to be shipping Justin Fields off. Another team, is the Houston Texans to pair him up with their new head coach DeMeco Ryans. It’s unlikely that the jokes and speculations about Young’s height being an issue at the pro level will stop any time soon, but Young is the type of guy who lets his play on the field speak for itself.
What Young lacks in height, he makes up for in pocket awareness, and the ability to scramble and make something happen off schedule. Another former quarterback that was 6’0″, but had a Hall of Fame level career, was Drew Brees with the New Orleans Saints. Now, this isn’t to say that Bryce Young is the next Drew Brees. That’d be unfair to him, having that kind of comparison to live up to. Rather, it’s to highlight that a quarterback’s ability to play in the NFL shouldn’t solely be judged off their height alone.
