Death is a part of life, as all of us know. That being said, some deaths not only can happen out of nowhere in the blink of an eye, but can also occur for unknown reasons. Said unknown reasons are what currently exist surrounding the surprising, unfortunate passing of 42-year-old Jamie Cail. The former U.S. Swimming star reportedly was found dead at her residence in the Virgin Island last week, unresponsive next to her boyfriend a little past midnight.
According to reports from the police, Cail’s significant other was out at the bar at the time she was going through a medical emergency. The boyfriend then found her laid out on the floor after he came back to their room later in the evening to check on her. Police also say that Cail was driven to the hospital by way of her boyfriend, and a friend of his. CPR had been administered immediately; unfortunately, their efforts to bring her back to life didn’t bare fruit.
Cail was officially pronounced dead at exactly 2:39 A.M.
According to TMZ Sports, the death is being deemed suspicious.
The Criminal Investigation Bureau (C.I.B) are currently conducting an investigation into Cail’s death. Citizens with any knowledge in relation to the case are being urged by U.S. officials to step forward and call their local authorities.
Professional swimming doesn’t get a lot of national media coverage like your usual sports (Football, Basketball, Baseball, Hockey, etc.), but it’s still a respected sport thanks to people like Cail. She performed at the highest stages in the late 1990s, coming away with a gold medal at the Pan Pacific Championships in 1997. Additionally, Cail also earned a silver medal at the FINA Swimming World Cup. FINA is the swimming federation that is now known in today’s world as the World Aquatics. In 2000-2001, Cail became a member of the women’s swim team at the University of Maine.
Rest in peace, Jamie Cail.
