All the headlines will be about how the Lakers have finally traded Russell Westbrook and brought back D’Angelo Russell in the process.
Here is a nugget you might have missed about the proposed three-team trade.
The Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to a deal to land Minnesota’s D’Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley and Jarred Vanderbilt in a three-team trade also involving the Utah Jazz, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
In the trade, the Timberwolves will receive guards Mike Conley and Nickeil Alexander-Walker and picks, while the Jazz will receive Russell Westbrook, Juan Toscano-Anderson, Damian Jones and a 2027 Lakers first-round pick that is top-four protected, sources said. If the Lakers’ pick to the Jazz is not conveyed in 2027 — if it falls into the top four — the pick immediately converts to a 2027 second-round pick, sources told ESPN’s Zach Lowe.
Now, you might be thinking Beasley is either a throwaway player in the trade or a solid role player that gives the Lakers even more scoring. Still, you might have forgotten that Beasley left his wife and kid briefly to have a relationship with none other than Larsa Pippen.
Not surprisingly, that relationship ended badly.
Beasley shortly after signing a free-agent contract with the T-Wolves was arrested for pointing a shotgun at a couple who was house hunting in the area. Yao was also arrested for what she said trying to take the charge for him, so he didn’t mess up his NBA money.
A few weeks later and right before Christmas, Beasley was spotted with 46-year-old Larsa Pippen. Yao states that Beasley just showed up one day and kicked her and their son out of the house. She said she had no clue he was dating Pippen. Larsa according to Beasley had the paparazzi take photos of them in public places (not surprisingly).
Beasley has finally realized the error of his ways and in a lengthy Instagram post apologizes to Yao, begs for her to take him back and say he was manipulated by Pippen.
Montana Yao took them back, and they had another baby together, believe it or not.
Where this might get a little dicey is that Larsa Pippen’s son Scotty Pippen Jr. is on a 2-way contract with the Lakers, meaning at any time he can be called up from the G-League and potentially have to pass the rock to his mom’s ex-boyfriend who is only four years older than him.
This happens when almost 50-Year-Old women date NBA players who are throwaway players in trades.
By the way, Larsa is now dating Michael Jordan’s son Marcus, but that is a story for another day.
