Cowboys Highly Considering Cutting Ezekiel Elliott Even Though He Wants to Come Back

It’s been a long time highest-paid paid RB in the NFL won a Super Bowl, and it seems likrealizeealizing that more and more.

If you lookRBsthe RBs from the past few Super Bowl winners and their salary, it’s very far off the highest-paid paid guys. Because of that fact, it maa comfortable an easy position to get cut year especially when they don’t put up highest paid RB numbers.

The latest RB candidate that could be added to the cut is unsurprising. It’s Ezekiel Elliot.

As reported by Adam Scmanya, many people around the league believe Zeke is a prime cut candidate before the new league begins. Zeke has no more guaranteed money left on his contract, and the move would save the Cowboys $4.86 million in cap and allow Tony Pollard to be the featured back.

It would still be a surprise, considering how much Jerry Jones loves Zeke and his loyalty to the guys he loves.

Zeke says he is willing to take a pay cut to come back, but considering he has no guaranteed money left, that will cut into the almost $5 million the Cowboys would save by cutting him. $5 million in cap space might not sound large in the grand scheme of things, but that might make the difference in bringing in another free agent are a bigger position of need.

It seems clear that if the Cowboys bring Pollard back, they need to let go of Zeke; if they decide to let Pollard walk, they might be open to bringing Zeke back and maybe drafting an RB in the mid to late rounds of the draft.

It is a fact that no team has won the Super Bowl in a very long time with a dominant run game that primarily uses one back.
