Last night’s game between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Golden State Warriors was a thriller. The game went into overtime, and saw the defending NBA champions come out with the 125-116 victory thanks to Stephen Curry putting on another clinic. With playoff positioning coming down to the wire in the Western Conference, having Curry make his return to form the last few games is about as good a timing as one could hope for if you’re a Warriors fan.
Curry put up 36 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists last night with 22 of those points coming in the 4th quarter. Just absolutely clutch shooting from one of the best in the game, when they needed him most. Thanks to him leading the way, like he usually does, the Warriors improved to 35 – 33 on the season.
The “Chef Curry” performance earned praise from fellow Western Conference rival LeBron James. James tweeted out a chef emoji as an ode to Curry. The nickname became associated to Steph whenever the man has a huge day dropping buckets all over the court. Golden State improved their positioning in the West as well, moving up to #6 in the conference. Meanwhile, the Bucks are now holding on to a slim lead (1.5 games) for the no.1 seed over the Boston Celtics.
The next stretch of games will be a real test for the defending champs, so they can’t breathe a sigh of relief just yet. Their schedule for the rest of March consist of the Suns, Clippers, Hawks, Grizzlies, Rockets, Mavericks, 76ers, Timberwolves, Pelicans, and Spurs.
Of those teams, the Pelicans, Timberwolves, Hawks, and Mavericks are fighting for their playoffs lives. Lebron James and the Los Angeles Lakers currently hold the no.9 seed in the West, and are looking to climb up the ranks to better cement their spots in the Play-In Tournament.
This half of March will be really fun to watch.
