If this reports of this are true, then ESPN have just become even more must see. Andrew Marchand, sports media columnist for the New York Post, has just dropped news that The Pat McAfee Show is on its way over to ESPN. The alleged deal is expected to begin in the fall.
This would leave FanDuel suddenly being on the outside looking in, as McAfee is being speculated to walk away from the four-year, $120 million deal he signed with the company. That would be interesting, considering that McAfee is only in his second year of the deal. Disney Upfronts is expected to host the YouTube sensation on Tuesday afternoon.
Pat made it clear not long ago that changing partners would be too dumb, in response to fans flooding his comments with concerns over Disney “sanitizing” the language and overall vibe of his show. The man does love his profanity, after all, especially the F-bombs. Assuming he stands by those words, it’s possible that Pat McAfee found a way to maintain full control over his show.
Here are some context details that the New York Post has reported in their article:
“If McAfee does have full control, it may indicate that the Disney deal is some sort of licensing agreement. McAfee is expected to bring his crew with him. It includes former Pro Bowl linebacker A.J. Hawk and several of his longtime friends, who are on-air presences for the program. McAfee has had a meteoric rise in sports media after walking away from millions as a Pro Bowl punter for the Colts.
In just seven years, McAfee has found a lot of success and a lot of employers, beginning with Barstool Sports. He has had working relationships with ESPN, Fox, DAZN, SiriusXM, Westwood One and, in his biggest deal, with FanDuel.”
Pat’s also made a lot of waves in the WWE, by working alongside Michael Cole doing live commentary on Friday Night Smackdown before he decided to step away and focus on College Football. The guy just can’t seem to miss.
