Texans QB Davis Mills On Not Giving Up His Starting Job to CJ Stroud

The Texans drafted CJ Stroud with the 2nd pick and from all reports he hit the ground running and is impressing everyone in the franchise.

By all accounts, it seems like Stroud will be the day 1 starter.

Last year’s starter Davis Mills has other plans though.

Most thought that he would kind of mentor Stroud and help move things along smoothly but he says he doesn’t plan on being a mentor because he still wants the starting job.

“I’m still competing for that starting job,” Mills said on Tuesday. “I mean, since I was drafted into the NFL I’ve been in a competition. I don’t think anything is going to change. It’s been great to get to know C.J. [Stroud]. He’s a great guy.”

It wouldn’t really make sense for Mills to be the starter after the team drafted Stroud so high. Best learning experience is to actually play and see what you have in him.
