BSO Review: Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse is a Brilliant Movie

It can be debated that there are too many Spider-Men and Spider-Women in the Marvel Universe. The original Spider-Man was relatable due to the simplicity of his character, making it effortless to feel empathy towards him. Numerous children have experienced loss in their lives and the awkward transition period between adolescence and adulthood. I have personally believed that Spider-Man’s popularity stems from the fact that people care more about Peter’s struggles than Spider-Man’s.

The introduction of Miles Morales into the Spider-Man franchise brought a refreshing feel to the story. Miles resembled the original Peter Parker more than the other Spider-Man variations, which seemed like mere copies rather than unique characters.

Miles gained immense popularity after the release of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in 2019. Since then, there has been a high demand for him to appear not only in animation but also in live-action films.

Let’s talk about Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse. The movie follows Miles, who has been Spider-Man for about a year and a half. Like many Spider-Men before him, he’s struggling to balance his responsibilities as a superhero with school, family, and friends, all while keeping his identity a secret.

It’s worth noting that the story begins by providing some background on Gwen Stacy. However, this isn’t the same Gwen Stacy who is well-known for being killed by the Green Goblin. Rather, it’s the Gwen who was bitten by a spider and inadvertently caused the death of her world’s Peter Parker, who had been transformed into the Lizard.

This is where we get into light spoilers for the movie.

Captain George Stacy, Gwen’s father, discovers that she is Spider-Gwen and attempts to arrest her. However, she is rescued by Spider-Man 2099 and Spider-Woman. This reveals that the occurrences in the previous Spider-Man movies, such as Spider-Man: No Way Home, are creating disturbances in the Spider-Verse. Consequently, the different Spider personas work together to correct these anomalies before they disrupt their existence.

It has been disclosed that specific occurrences, such as deaths, must transpire in different Spider-Man universes to maintain stability. A villain named the SPOT, who was inadvertently formed by Miles Morles in the previous film, must take the life of Miles’ father the newly appointed Captain. This is one of the explanations why Miles has not been included in the circle of Spider-Men and Spider-Women, as they would attempt to prevent the inevitable.

Despite being advised against it, Gwen disobeys the instruction not to visit Miles while attempting to prevent the SPOT. As a result, Miles follows her to an alternate universe, where Miles stops a cannon event putting that universe in jeopardy.

When Miles finally meets Spider-Man 2099, he learns some unsettling news. His father is destined to perish, and he was never meant to become Spider-Man. The spider that bit him was intended for another version of Miles Morales from a different dimension.

Despite this revelation, Miles refuses to accept his fate and a fierce battle between all the spider people ensues.

I don’t want to give away too much, but after that point, the story doesn’t have a happy ending.t impressive abo What I find mosut the film is how it seamlessly combines emotional depth, humor, and animation in a way that I’ve never seen before. Additionally, the way the film handles the concept of a multiverse is superior to what I’ve seen in live-action Marvel and DC movies.

There’s a strong likelihood that a live-action in the film hin Miles Morales movie will be a blockbuster success when it eventually hits theaters especially if Spider-Gwen is Included. Additionally, a special cameots that its development may be happening sooner rather than later.

The film deserves all the praise it is getting.
