Being a NFL RB is brutal.
They take a lot of hits and their shelf life is much shorter than every other position in the league. Plus when a team fills like they don’t want to pay the money on the contract they gave you, they’ll release you.
The latter is what happened to Dalvin Cook.
Cook was recently released by the Vikings after they would have owed him north of $14 million. Now he has to find a new home and with mandatory mini camps starting, Cook plans to take it slow. Especially considering he will make $2 million if he sits the season out.
He will have visits coming up soon but if a team wants him it will reportedly take around $10 million to get him.
Cook still has plenty of tread left on the tires so there will probably be plenty of teams willing to give him what he wants or somewhere close to it. As for the teams that could use his talents, they include the Cowboys who released Ezekiel Elliot not too long ago, the Dolphins who could use a better option for their feature back, and the Bears who could also use an upgrade at RB.
A couple months until the season so we will see where he lands.
