Skip Bayless is here to let us know that Ja Morant is a stubborn gun-loving kid who ignored rapper Lil Wayne after he offered to help him in the wake and heat of his gun-flashing brouhaha and suspension from the Memphis Grizzlies via VladTV;
During an episode on Skip Bayless’ The Skip Bayless Show, the sports personality talked about his failed attempt at playing middleman in an attempt to get Ja Morant some help.
Lil Wayne apparently wanted to serve as a mentor to Ja Morant but when sports broadcaster Skip Bayless reached out to connect the two, the Undisputed cohost says the NBA star didn’t respond.
“[Lil Wayne] texted me,” Skip Bayless says in the episode clip below. “He said, ‘Hey, can you connect me with Ja because I could help him? I’ve been there, I’ve done all this. I wound up in prison, Riker’s Island. I know what happens, I know where you can go wrong and I know what’s right.’ I reached out to Ja. ‘Would you sit with Lil Wayne? Would you talk with Lil Wayne?’”
Skip continues: “Wayne would fly to him. He’d fly to Memphis in a heartbeat tonight. Wayne would private-plane it and go right to Memphis if he thought he could save a career and a soul. I got nothing back from Ja. Didn’t expect anything back. In the end, I just hope Ja and Antonio don’t turn out to be one of those people you just can’t reach, you just can’t fix, you just can’t save.”
The multi-platinum selling rapper has a dark history with guns as he almost lost his life at the age of 12 when he shot himself in the chest. He has also had multiple run-ins with the law.
Ja Morant has been suspended by the NBA once already this season for flashing a gun on social media in addition to multiple other incidents. He is currently suspended from all team activities by the Grizzlies for his latest incident involving a gun on Instagram Live.
He is expected to receive a huge suspension this time around since the first one clearly wasn’t an eye-opener for him.
The NBA world is awaiting Adam Silver’s decision on potential punishment for Morant and it will no doubt throw a major wrench in the plans of the Grizzlies for next season.
The team is coming off a good year that landed them with the second seed, but they got eliminated by the Lakers in the first round.
