Trail Blazers’ all-star Damian Lillard could be heading to a top Western Conference team if the talks on the trade go as expected and the team is no other than the Phoenix Suns via TPS;

One of the top teams in the Western Conference is reportedly looking for a way to land Portland Trail Blazers’ All-Star point guard Damian Lillard.

The Phoenix Suns will need a new starting point guard as they prepare to move on from All-Star Chris Paul. Per multiple reports, the Suns are exploring options with the future Hall of Famer, but it certainly looks like the organization is looking to move on

An Eastern Conference executive spoke to Sean Deveney of Heavy.com and stated that the Phoenix Suns are eyeing a Lillard trade:

“There is a lot that can happen there. The Suns need depth all over that roster. They want to free up their payroll. They want to see if there is a way to bring in Dame (Lillard). They want to see what they can do with a DeAndre Ayton deal. There is a lot on the table.”

Paul isn’t the only big-named player in Phoenix likely on his way out. Many NBA insiders and analysts also expect the team to trade 2018 first overall pick Deandre Ayton following another elimination in the conference semifinals.

Phoenix wasted little time making big changes after they were eliminated by the Denver Nuggets. Well-respected head coach Monty Williams was fired, and the Suns wound up hiring ex-Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel as the replacement.

The Suns gave away a plethora of their future draft picks to the Brooklyn Nets ahead of the deadline for superstar Kevin Durant. So acquiring an All-Star guard of Lillard’s caliber, with limited assets, is much easier said than done.

But if the Suns can find a way to make it work? A core of Lillard, Durant and Devin Booker would unquestionably make Phoenix the team to beat for next season. Nonetheless, a very interesting offseason awaits in The Desert.
