A 19-year-old boy named Luis Gil saw a video of his girlfriend dancing with a man on social media and immediately decided that he would go on a killing spree and kill the next man he saw around.
So Gil went out and stabbed the first man he saw, 35-year-old Hugo Morales, resting on a bench at New York Pier 84 in Hudson River Park. The victim had never set eyes on Gil or his girlfriend, and Gil was well aware of that but he just stabbed him to death for no apparent reason.
While the tragic incident suggests Gil is mentally unstable, he did try to flee but was arrested in Manhattan.

A jealous lover enraged over his girlfriend dancing with someone else sought out a random man in a Manhattan park and fatally stabbed the innocent victim last week, police said Tuesday.
Luis Gil, 19, is accused of plunging a knife into Hugo Morales’ chest as the 35-year-old man lounged on a bench at Pier 84 in Hudson River Park at around 6 a.m. on July 13, Chief of Detective James Essig said Tuesday.
Gil told cops he had seen his girlfriend dancing with another man on social media and vowed to stab the next guy he saw, Essig said.
“And that was the first man he saw,” Essig said during an unrelated press conference in One Police Plaza.
The victim had no connection to his attacker or the attacker’s girlfriend.
Detectives tracked Gil to Chicago after he got on a bus west, and he was arrested Monday night, according to the chief.
He is expected to be extradited to Manhattan to face murder charges.
The rate at which sick people are becoming rampant in our neighborhood is saddening, we literally have to be looking over our shoulders every minute to check for hoodlums like Gil, who are walking around looking for prey.
