Robert Covington of the Clippers responded to his statements regarding Ty Lue that went viral. Robert Covington, a forward for the LA Clippers, recently spoke with Law Murray of The Athletic and made some remarks that have since gone viral on social media.
Covington told The Athletic that he hasn’t had an opportunity to speak with Clippers head coach Ty Lue, and this information was picked up by a number of aggregation websites. The veteran Clippers player said that he didn’t take anything away from what was a bizarre year for him, in addition to admitting that he hadn’t spoken to Lue.
These remarks were also published by a number of different pages, which started to give the impression that Covington and his head coach might not get along.
On Sunday, Covington corrected a few of his remarks in a series of Tweets:
Funny how y’all can twist something I said lol I was specifically talking about having a convo about what happened last year.

Yea I’m glad you got your own take because what I said wasn’t a shot at nobody. I didn’t take anything from the season that I ain’t already been thru when it came to adversity or challenges. Funny how y’all try to put negative content out for likes.

Excerpts from Covington’s talk with The Athletic
Here are the queries and responses from Covington’s initial conversation with The Athletic for your reference:
Murray: “You’ve had a few months away from the end of the season. What do you kind of take away from last season and what kind of feedback did you get?”
Covington: “I didn’t take nothing from last year. Last year didn’t go how I expected, so I didn’t take nothing from it. I just wash it away and start over, a new year. That’s just my mentality of it. … It’s nothing that could be talked about. I mean, I really haven’t had much feedback besides, you know, what I’ve been doing now. I haven’t talked about last year. I’ve put that behind me and focused on right now and moving forward. That’s what it’s all about. Can’t dwell on what happened last year, whatever the case may be. It happened. So I’m just gonna wash, move forward.”
Murray : Have you gotten a chance to talk to T.Lue?
Covington: No.
Murray: Do you think that conversation will happen at some point?
Covington: If it do, it do. If it don’t, I won’t dwell on it. I focus on control, what I control, and I go out and do my job. Whatever happens, happens. I haven’t talked to T (Lue) since the season ended.
