Stephen Curry‘s camp was attended by Anthony Edwards in 2018, and the legendary Warriors player immediately recognized Edwards’ uniqueness. It is said that one must know one. A great player recognizing tremendous potential in his apprentice is illustrated by the story of Steph Curry’s realization of Anthony Edwards’ greatness.
This information was revealed in an interview Curry gave to Complex Sports regarding his 2018 summer basketball camp, where high school basketball stars from all over the country gathered to play basketball and pick Curry’s brain. When asked if he could think of any campers who had the potential to be very outstanding, Curry responded what you can see below.
“Anthony Edwards for sure,” “He just had a different demeanor and different competitive presence out there on the court during our camp sessions and even in the showcase game that we had. There were just plays that he made that nobody else really could. So I think that most people who watched that year would have had a lot of confidence in the fact that he’d be who he wanted to be.”
If there was one Curry Camp alum that Steph Curry knew was destined for greatness, it was Anthony Edwards. 🔥

The beginning of a journey for Anthony Edwards
In 2018, Edwards attended the camp along with other aspiring NBA players like Jalen Green of Houston, James Wiseman of the Detroit Pistons, and Cole Anthony of Orlando.
Before being chosen first overall by the Timberwolves in the 2020 NBA Draught, Edwards went on to excel at the University of Georgia in 2019–20. In that draught, Wiseman was selected third overall, while Green was selected second overall in the subsequent 2021 draught.
