During the Hall of Fame festivities on Saturday, Dirk Nowitzki, Pau Gasol, Tony Parker, and Dwyane Wade all relished their time on stage. However, Nowitzki wasn’t always a fan of Wade or the other honorees. He gave his fellow opponents flowers during his speech while making jokes about his hate of them in the past.
He said : “I’m so excited to be a part of this class,” “Pau, Tony, D Wade, I didn’t always like you guys. We competed at the highest level but there was always an appreciation for all your guys’ greatness so thank you guys.”
Nowitzki and his past grudges with his contemporaries
Everyone is aware of the beginning of the conflict between Nowitzki and Wade. A sick Nowitzki received personal jabs during the 2011 Finals. A video of Heat stars LeBron James and Dwyane Wade making fun of him with fake coughs went viral a few days after the Heat lost Game 4 to the Mavericks.
Nowitzki’s resentment of Parker and Gasol wasn’t as intensely personal. Actually, it was just that they were vying to be named the top European player. After Nowitzki finished speaking, Wade was next. He also acknowledged having disliked Nowitzki in the past and that the ceremony was like to a therapy session.
Wayde said : “For Dirk and me, it’s been therapy,” “Who would’ve thought we would be on the same team after all of our battles but here we are and it’s one of the greatest teams I’ve ever been on.”
