The 90s WWE champion Dibiase‘s son, 40-year-old son Ted Dibiase Jr. after failing to uphold his father’s wrestling legacy to its entirety took to a more demeaning way of making money. Ted pleaded not guilty earlier this year after he was charged with fraud and wire fraud amounting to $20 million.
The son of the feared wrestler acquired over $20 million from the Mississippi State, money meant for poor women and kids under the States anti-poverty program, and used the money to buy a boat and a car. If found guilty, he will serve 45 years in prison.
Back in the “Golden Era” of the WWE, “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase wrestled as one of the company’s most memorable villains. With his righthand man, “Virgil,” by his side Ted DiBiase flaunted his riches and “Million Dollar Belt” at rivals such as Dusty Rhodes and Hulk Hogan. About one decade after the WWE Hall of Famer’s final match with the company in 1996, his son Ted DiBiase Jr. made his debut on the company’s flagship show, Monday Night Raw.

Although Ted DiBiase Jr’s stint with the WWE is not as celebrated as his father’s, the family left behind a legacy in the business. On-camera, the DiBiases portrayed a wealthy family, but off-camera, both men were indicted on federal fraud charges in Mississippi after the state’s Department of Human Service accused them of illegally procuring roughly $20 million from their anti-poverty program. The allegations resulted in a lawsuit last May.
This August, Ted DiBiase Jr. (40) will appear in court to answer for several charges related to the matter, including wire fraud and money laundering. If convicted, he faces up to 45 years in prison along with a one million dollar fine. He has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges.
Not even Nepo babies end up making daddy proud, Ted has the name, all he had to do was win a few matches and have people hailing him for life and also endorsement deals flooding him just because of his father’s name but he failed and resorted to this ridiculous means of making money.
