In the world of boxing, we’ve witnessed countless cases where fighters have been taken advantage of when it comes to their earnings and financial prosperity. Speaking of money, there’s no one quite like Floyd Mayweather, who raked in substantial paychecks throughout his career due to his ability to draw crowds. His star power was undeniable. Now, with the recent buzz surrounding the Devin Haney vs Shakur Stevenson matchup, Mayweather has chimed in with his perspective on the situation.
Floyd Mayweather’s Candid Take on Devin Haney vs Shakur Stevenson
On Twitter, Michael Benson shared what Mayweather said about the bout between Devin Haney and Shakur Stevenson in an interview with FightHype. Revealing that Devin had extended a proposal to Shakur with a [75/25] split in the purse. Mayweather pointed out the unfairness of Top Rank making Shakur go to Australia on two occasions, a move that he deemed inappropriate.
He stressed that any disappointment should be directed towards the promoter, highlighting the importance of equitable treatment for both fighters. Mayweather emphasised that just as Devin deserved fair treatment, the same should apply to Shakur.
Floyd Mayweather on Devin Haney vs Shakur Stevenson: “Devin made Shakur a [75/25] offer. Just because Top Rank made you go to Australia twice, which is not right. You need to be upset with the promoter. Shakur should be treated fair, just like Devin should've been.” [@FightHype]

If you’re not up to date, Haney is moving up in weight to fight Regis Prograis for the WBC Super-Lightweight title. This move follows Stevenson’s reported refusal of a 75/25 split offer for a possible undisputed match. Now because of this in a recent statement, Money Mayweather pointed out that Haney shouldn’t have treated Stevenson in a similar manner to how ‘The Dream’ was handled during his challenge against George Kambosos for the undisputed title in Australia.
Now Shakur Stevenson, a champion in two different weight classes, has reacted to comments from Mayweather. Stevenson took notice of the “facts” Mayweather mentioned on social media but seemed unsure if the advice would be taken seriously.
