Most people agree that Michael Jordan is the best basketball player to ever play the game. However, even the GOAT discovered a few opponents who might challenge him in a one-on-one match. Jordan once admitted that his only difficulty came from smaller guards. In a video posted on Instagram by the user “jumpmanhistory,” Jordan named the three toughest opponents he faced throughout his NBA career.
Jordan said : “The hardest opponent for me to play against? In terms of 1-on-1? Small guys,” “[Allen] Iverson, Damon Stoudamire, Rod Strickland. Those little guards like that, it’s tough for me. Muggsy [Bogues]. [John] Starks? No problem with Starks.”
Although Michael Jordan acknowledged that these were the toughest opponents to play against one-on-one in the NBA, they couldn’t stop him from becoming an all-time great.
Jordan earned six NBA Championships, six NBA Finals MVPs, five MVPs during the regular season, and one NBA Defensive Player of the Year award. He was also a 14-time NBA All-Star, an 11-time All-NBA selection, a 9-time All-Defensive selection, a 10-time NBA scoring champion, and a 3-time NBA steals champion.
When asked who would prevail in a one-on-one match between him and Allen Iverson, Michael Jordan once revealed something strange
During his incredible 15-year NBA career, Michael Jordan faced numerous opponents. One of the rare opponents to defeat Michael Jordan one-on-one was Allen Iverson.
Yes, the infamous crossover Iverson performed against Jordan in 1997 is the topic at hand. Iverson’s action still hasn’t earned Jordan’s forgiveness.
Jordan once responded when asked who would triumph in a one-on-one matchup with Iverson. “His Airness” responded in great detail to the same. “He could beat me on the perimeter, but I could take him in the post,”
“He’s a heck of a good player. He’s a young talent. He is gonna continue to get better once he learns how to play the game on a much higher scale.
“Right now, he’s doing a lot on physical ability. He’s good, he’s quick. That’s a challenge for me to go out to him and his stature. He’s so quick and small. But it’s a challenge. I won’t back away.”
