When probed by Taylor Rooks regarding the controversial racial language, Cambage stands her ground, adamantly stating that she never used a racial slur aimed at the Nigerian team during a pre-2021 Tokyo Olympics practice match. Nigerian basketball athlete Promise Amukamara used social media to counter Cambage’s assertions, declaring that the idea of her representing Nigeria in the Olympics is “false.” Amukamara claimed, “She called us Monkeys & told us to go back to our country. She added, “Literally everyone from both teams have the same story BUT her, so y’all do the math! & the only person she has been in “cahoots” w/ was the former coach of our National team & he’s no longer the coach, so there’s that!”
Nevertheless, Liz maintains that she has received a call from the Nigerian national team, which she intends to finalize shortly, signaling her intention to join the Nigerian squad. Now it will be interesting to see what happens next to this given that things here are spicing up.
