It’s official. From “Undisputed” to “First Take”, NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe will be joining Stephen A. Smith as his new partner on one of ESPN’s most-watched shows over the last 12 years.
The news came straight from Stephen A. himself during Thursday’s episode. “It is official, Shannon Sharpe is coming to ‘First Take’,” Smith confirmed, after admitting he had only found out himself about 60 seconds earlier.
Sharpe is slated to make his First Take debut on Monday, September 4th, and is expected to be on every Monday and Tuesday after that. After spending seven years across the table from his former partner, Skip Bayless, he now is slated to tackle arguably one of the most notable sports media figures in the game today. Pretty interesting, when you consider the fact that Skip Bayless also partnered up with Stephen A. at one point in time. A full circle kind of moment.
He’s not coming alone, either, as hundreds of thousands of his fans and supporters have voiced their intent to follow him to wherever he intends to go next.
Unfortunate? Sure. Surprising? Hardly.
Many people expected this to happen. Viral clips and videos of Skip Bayless and his treatment of Sharpe over the last two years have left very few in Skip’s corner especially when it came to topics surrounding Tom Brady.
BSO sources have learned this isn’t the end for Sharpe who is still in high demand after these major deals with Volume Sports and ESPN. Sharpe will be popping up even more on shows and making more appearances in the future.
