Raiders’ Wide Receivers Davante Adams, Jakobi Meyers and Hunter Renfrow might pose issues for the Broncos’ defense

Wide receivers for the Las Vegas Raiders can pose issues for the Denver Broncos defense, and defensive coordinator Vance Joseph is aware of this. One of the top wide receiver trios in the NFL belongs to the Las Vegas Raiders.

As a trio of wide receivers, Davante Adams, Jakobi Meyers, and Hunter Renfrow rank among the best in the league. Defenses must respect the distinct skill sets that each player possesses.

Renfrow in particular is a player with exceptional route running and exceptional athleticism who can win in the slot. Teams devote a lot of energy to stopping Adams, but occasionally lose sight of Renfrow in the process.

Broncos defensive coordinator on dealing with Raiders WRs

The 2023 NFL regular season will kick off on Sunday when the Oakland Raiders travel to Empower Field at Mile High to take on the Denver Broncos. Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph is aware of the issues that Renfrow, Adams, and the Raiders’ wide receivers may pose for his defence.

Speaking to the media, Joseph discussed the difficulties the Raiders’ pass catchers can pose :

“[Renfrow] is a guy that if you are putting your resources toward 17 [Adams], he can win one-on-ones,” “Again, that is part of the equation. If you are going to take away 17 with something, you are going to leave Renfrow one-on-one with someone. Again, it’s a cat-and-mouse game. We will see how it works on Sunday, but that is always a challenge. They have a lot of weapons, not just those three. The tight end is a good, young player. He’s a first-round pick. You have a young guy in [Tre] Tucker who has big-time speed, and [DeAndre] Carter from the Chargers has some speed. There are a lot of weapons that they have. This offense was good. It was an explosive offense last year, so it hasn’t changed much and Jimmy [Garoppolo] is a winner. We haven’t seen him play in a Vegas uniform, but he’s a winner. I faced him for four years and he has always won a lot of games. Again, it’ll be a challenge for us to get them stopped.”

On Sunday, Joseph will have to deal with a number of pass catchers, and he listed some of the Raiders offense’s secondary weapons like Tre Tucker and DeAndre Carter. There are a few extremely strong players in Joseph’s defense, and he will need them to rise to the occasion and accept the challenge of shutting down the top receiver room of the Raiders.
