Looks like Damian Lillard’s efforts to promote his music career isn’t the only that’s starting to heat up. According to TotalProSports, a trade for Lillard is expected to go down “within 24 hours”. Five teams have been listed to be the most active in trade talks for Lillard. Those teams are the following:
Miami Heat
Phoenix Suns
Philadelphia 76ers
Toronto Raptors
Chicago Bulls
Of these five, TPS reports it’s actually the Suns—NOT the Heat—that are emerging as front-runners to trade for Lillard’s services. Could be just smoke & mirrors, but quite interesting if it’s true. The Suns have been trying to get to the NBA Finals for some time now, but always seem to come up short in the playoffs. They recently traded for Kevin Durant—who previously was with the Brooklyn Nets.
Gerald Bourguet gave details on the latest news that he says came from multiple sources:
“According to multiple sources who spoke PHNX Sports‘ Flex from Jersey, trade talks from the most active teams — Philadelphia, Miami and Portland, as well as the Toronto Raptors and Chicago Bulls — are heating up…and many of them view the Suns as a team that could push a potential blockbuster deal across the finish line.
While the Suns lack the assets and/or contracts to trade for Lillard or (James) Harden themselves, one source referred to the Suns as a “mystery team” in regards to their potential involvement. Another called them a “dark horse” to help facilitate a deal as an additional party.”
No matter where Lillard goes, it’ll take some time getting used to seeing the man wear another jersey. Since coming into the league, the only team he’s ever known was the Portland Trail Blazers. He’s worked himself into being the face of that franchise. Hopefully we’ll have some clarity on this situation very soon.
"Damian Lillard is going to get traded very soon…I would even say probably within the next 24 hours…I am expecting a Damian Lillard trade."
