From time to time, you’ll get parody accounts across social media throwing out wild predictions about a sporting event that actually end up not only true, but also very accurate. Monday night had another one of those moments, though he probably wishes he hadn’t at this point. The saying “you can never predict when injuries are going to happen” was thrown out the window after X user @DaddyZaslav tweeted “Aaron Rodgers is going to tear his Achilles on a rain drenched MetLife turf in 2.5 hours.”
That tweet was posted approximately two hours before the start of Monday Night Football between the New York Jets & the Buffalo Bills. Imagine his shock when Rodgers got hurt on just his 4th snap on the Jets opening drive. His tweet had begun to go viral shortly after that, reaching over 11 million views by the end of the night. The following morning, it was confirmed that Rodgers had suffered a torn left Achilles and was out for the season.
Zaslav’s account was suspended shortly after the announcement hit the football world. To this day, X has yet to provide a reason as to why his account was taken down; however, that hasn’t stopped anyone else from coming up with their own theories.
“I think he got suspended bc if you looked at his page last night, he went crazy on people tweets who were making fun of Rodgers. Telling them to off themselves and such,” King Pak wrote.
“I also saw some of his prior tweets. He was using derogatory / demeaning / hate speech language that goes against Twitter X policies. Probably a lot of people reported him on many fronts,” Jim Sutherland wrote in direct response to Pak.
The Jets showed plenty of heart, pulling off a comeback against their division rival in overtime. But there’s not a lot of optimism for this year, as Zach Wilson now gets another chance to lead the Jets to where they want to go: to the Super Bowl.
