Xavien Howard is a man who wears his heart on his sleeve and it showed in his support for Russell Wilson on Sunday. In their rout of the Broncos on Sunday, the Dolphins scored 70 points, the most by any NFL team since 1966.
The Denver Broncos suffered yet another humiliating loss, but it was made worse when you consider that Russell Wilson had to put up with it all while playing the entire game. With the exception of backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham, Sean Payton, the coach of the Denver Broncos, employed every player in that game.
Even with the game already out of hand, Wilson was present for each and every one of the 59 offensive snaps by the Broncos. We had earlier in the season covered how there was already tensions brewing between Payton and Wilson.
Xavien Howard blasts Sean Payton
When Sean Payton was questioned about his choice to keep Wilson in the game even after Tua Tagovailoa’s day was finished, cornerback Xavien Howard erupted on him. Howard said
“That was totally disrespectful,”
“That man did a lot for this game. They’ve got to do better on that side. You can’t be leaving guys like that out there.”
Update: According to #Dolphins star CB Xavien Howard, it was "Totally disrespectful" for #Broncos coach Sean Payton to keep Russell Wilson all the way to the end of the 70-20 game, per @AdamHBeasley

Wilson was involved in 12 hits and one sack. He threw for 306 yards on 23 of his 38 completions, a touchdown, and an interception. This game was entirely the defense’s fault, not his.
Wilson has completed 65.4% of his throws for six touchdowns and two interceptions so far this season. The Broncos are 0-3 and will begin the week alone in the AFC’s basement.
