The New England Patriots have officially entered a phase of their history where they may play poor football for a considerable amount of time. At Gillette Stadium, the Patriots were jeered by the crowd the entire time the Saints crushed them 34-0.
For the first time since Tom Brady’s arrival in 2000, the Patriots have a 1-4 record. The squad is struggling to find a replacement for such a talented player. As their lone victory came against the Jets, who are led by quarterback Zach Wilson, Belichick’s 2023 Patriots have been utterly outclassed.
The Patriots are currently among the worst football teams, and Mac Jones is just one example of how poor they are on all fronts. The offense managed just one point, which resulted in Jones being benched once more a week after they could barely produce three points against the Dallas Cowboys.
The Patriots quarterback is reportedly quite dissatisfied with the lack of offensive weapons, according to a person close to him who spoke to the NFL on Fox. Jones reportedly quipped, “No matter how good a cook you are, you cannot make garbage taste good.”

WR is Belichick’s Achilles heel
The wide receiver position has been Belichick’s most obvious weakness during his illustrious career as a general manager. Year after year, the Patriots have failed to invest resources and picks in the appropriate players.
The team went out and signed JuJu Smith-Schuster during the previous offseason, who has just 14 catches for 86 yards and no touchdowns.
Since Randy Moss, the Patriots have not had a dominant receiver. That happened so long ago.
Tom Brady can patch up many offensive holes, but Mac Jones can’t, thus the issue will persist. The squad has to bring in a high-caliber talent player if they hope to be successful in the long run.
