Cris Collinsworth’s Disrespectful Remarks About Justin Fields Needing to Study Tyson Bagent on Sunday Night Football Draws Criticism

The Los Angeles Chargers dominated the Chicago Bears on Sunday night, defeating them 30–13 in a game that never felt like it would be competitive. With a 2–6 record, Justin Fields, the Bears’ starting quarterback, is still out with a thumb injury that he suffered in Week 6.

Tyson Bagent, an undrafted rookie quarterback, made his second professional start and mostly ignored the opposition. In the defeat, he completed just one touchdown throw and was intercepted twice.

It seems that NBC analyst Cris Collinsworth noticed certain qualities in the child that led him to comment later on Fields and Bagent:

NFL fans didn’t take too lightly to the comments :

On Sunday against the Chargers, rookie quarterback Tyson Bagent completed 25 of 37 passes for 232 yards, two interceptions, and a 62 passer rating. Despite finishing with zero yards on four attempts, he did manage to score a brief touchdown while running.

After the undrafted rookie threw two interceptions in what appeared to be a soft matchup on paper, his Cinderella narrative is all but done.

Collinsworth may appreciate him as a player, but it was blatantly foolish of him to say what he did in front of millions of people. To give himself a chance to recover, Bagent seems like the obvious choice to start against New Orleans the following week.
